Moving Swiftly On...

Thanks for all your lovely messages yesterday. I've felt horrible for a few days now and unable to focus on much creatively. In fact I've come pretty close to giving up the degree course on more than a couple of occasions. Yesterday I didn't believe I had a single creative cell in my entire body. But I'm not one to stay down for too long and today I've been working with gusto on all sorts of ideas for my latest module... which I can't actually share with you yet!

But while I've been out and about I've been drawing people using their mobile phones ... and then translating them into simple stitched portraits... black free machining on muslin.

It might be leading somewhere... but you'll have to keep popping back to find out where!

  1. I like that stitched portrait very much -- it's lovely and free and very expressive. Don't start thinking you're not creative because it's not true.

  4. Hey,I had a blogger glitch (another!!!) and missed yesterday's post. How could that happen, especially when there was cake? Sadly Gina, there are some people out there who don't have the moral scruples that most of us live our lives by but you are right to be philosophical about it. Good to hear you're also being pragmatic about the degree. These thread drawings are superb and you are most definitely a master of your art. There are days when 'you know what' happens Gina but class will always rise to the top and as far as I'm concerned you are one class act! Lesley x

  6. Your portraits are brilliant. Really talented, especially to have come up with the idea of machining them to look like line drawings. keep at it and the MOJO will return x take care

  8. I can relate to the lack of brain cells. I have two assignments left to finish before the end of the month and then I finish my post-grad diploma but oh I have no enthusiasm and my get up and go has definitely got up and gone. Could you send a little of your new found enthusiasm my way please?

  10. Sometimes Life's a bitch, innit? But I know you are counting your blessings and when it all gets too much go back to chewing on the carpet - works for me everytime.

  11. I love its simplicity....but, you've not only managed to capture the form, but the spirit. I can hear the gentle tap-tap of the thumb against the keyboard. You're truly an artist!

  12. You are the most creative person I know. Your stitched portrait is brilliant. I bet that every one of us that has left you a comment can imagine a short narrative to go with it. That must say a lot about your creativity and communication skills.

  13. I really like these portraits, particularly the looseness of the drawing. The black on white is very effective
