Day Twenty One

I woke this morning feeling exhausted with all the planning and preparation and wishing it was this time next week. But a few hours sitting knitting with friends over coffee and brunch was just what I needed. Perfect time out.

At the very last minute we decided to have a Secret Santa and I got lucky. A tea towel edged with some fabulous pompoms and a journal for jotting down my knitting inspirations. It also has pages of tips for knitters including "Yoga poses for knitters". The others were relieved that I decided not to demonstrate "The Downward Dog" over my coffee. Thank you Santa!

It was also a chance to add a few more rows to a Christmas present that despite my optimism, will not be finished by Christmas Day. But then why spoil what has become something of a tradition. He only ever gets one sock!

  1. Glad I'm not the only one to rarely get presents to anyone on time. Would be far too shocking now

  5. He can hop till you've finished the second one! I too have enjoyed a lovely relaxing day with my youngest daughter and begun knitting a cardigan. I was wise enough not to make any gifts this year, but many years ago totally exhausted myself getting things done on time.

  6. Brunch is the most restorative meal! I have a sock at the same phase. It's the first one, so no chance of them as a gift, apart from to myself. the gift of Christmas sanity, provided by a few soothing rows.

  10. Our Boxing day is built around brunch (and maybe a very light supper) and I'm beginning to think I'd quite like to do things that way on Christmas day too. A proper brunch is the best meal there is, only improved by the company of friends and/or knitting, and you had all three!

  11. Gina, your one sock tradition has got a wonderful 2012 addition.

Isn't it something to see how somehow, all our generous Christmas preparations do come together on that special day.

Mind you...I've one more gift to finish, and cookie baking is yet to begin.

  12. What a great secret Santa gift, perhaps the yoga positions will give you the focus to finish the second sock! I've never ever finished a second sock either!
    Happy weekend Gina,
