Day Six

Yesterday was the last meeting of my group 'Spectrum' for this year. For our first exhibition we focused on colour but now a lot of our work has been using just black and white. There was a bit of grumbling in the ranks at first that I was limiting their colour choices but several members are now really enjoying the graphic qualities of working in just black and white... with just a hint of one accent colour.

For our last meeting we were stitching together a patchwork of black and white fabrics, many of which had been printed by the members earlier this year and making little hanging bags until Sue suggested they would make cute little birds.

So I had to really... no bags for me but two quirky birds with bells on...

for hanging up in trees or wherever you fancy!

  3. I'm glad they are now enjoying their challenge, it's always a good idea to work outside your comfort zone! She says through gritted teeth.

  7. They look so lovely on your tree. You have such brilliant ideas. I have been making my Christmas cards this week and will blog them on Friday - I adapted your poinsettias design so I thought I would add a link to your wreath on Etsy. It's really gorgeous so I hope you sell it. I think I pinned it onto my Pinterest board too!! x Jo

  10. I would prefer to work in colour but then there are all the choices to be made about which ones to choose and what goes with what, whereas in black and white at least that is taken care of. Your birds are delightful and I am amazed at the simplicity of their shape, yet they are definitely birds. Might have to try some myself.

  13. Now THAT is something I can have a go at! Brilliant idea! Interesting how students grumble about working in black and white, but when they are persuaded to, they discover all sorts of things about their artistic abilities - like finding out they're more creative than they thought they were.
