Let Them Eat Cake

Am I the only one who hugely over estimates what can be achieved in one day and then ends up cross and frustrated that there's not enough time to do everything?

On Saturday I'm teaching a class on Tassels, Cords and Beads at Chelmsford Embroiderer's Guild. I thought I would be very organised and get everything ready this morning (as opposed to Friday night!), leaving the afternoon free for some degree work and a trip to the supermarket.

First of all I needed to make up some more samples of beads

So that I could make up some more samples of pendants.

That done, I needed to cut some tassels frames

So that I could make up plenty of kits of necessary materials.

Doesn't sound like it should take long does it? But it has taken all day and I'm still cutting out frames, the wet washing is still sitting in the machine and there's not a scrap of food to feed my army of men for dinner... unless of course I make them eat scones. I found time to make more of those!

  5. Do you think that is what an English Marie Antoinette would have said? 'Let them eat scones!'

  6. Oh Gina - I love you!!! I found my C&G sketchbooks the other day, and all my samples of machine made tassels. I even had my little mountboard frames, but when I had a go I kept messing up cause I couldn't find my actual written notes. Can you remind me pleeeease - do you stitch with feed dogs down and embroidery foot on or normal foot and teeth up?? I just got into a real tangles mess...
And I had wanted to use them as my first ever blog tutorial lol

  11. I'm hearing you loud and clear. I forced myself to sew up a christmas stocking this evening after I returned home from work, because I have made myself such a huge to do list, and I already know I'm going to struggle to find the hours to make everything.

Your beads do look lovely though :o)

  12. I can understand how long all that would take but only from having similar experiences. I always misjudge especially if it's a new process. (lol learned better in quoting for work so now double the time element as still I end up pushing it!).. soo annoying.

  18. No, you're not the only one - it happens to me every day. So frustrating!

Mind you, the things I do achieve aren't as gorgeous as those beads, tassels and kits!

    Have a good workshop.

  21. Your beads are fabulous Gina! I also have a tendency to be over-optimistic where the craft:time ratio is concerned!!

I hope you got it all done.
