Day Five

Yesterday was our last Young Embroiderers meeting of the year and I planned some Christmas Stockings for the girls to make.

Not only a chance to make a something seasonal but also the opportunity to learn some lovely traditional stitches - ribbed spider's web, french knots and blanket stitch.

It was only a small group of five girls and we had a shorter meeting than usual as it was followed by our Guild's Christmas Tea, but still they managed some brilliant results and Charlie and Abigail even got theirs finished

I think they are fantastic... so well done Charlie, Abigail, Jemima, Skye and Tabby. Looking forward to our next meeting in January when I think we might get the machines out! And well done for putting up with my taste in music... at least I didn't get out the Christmas songs!

And in the spirit of Christmas I thought I might have an impromptu giveaway... if you or someone you know would like to win my sample stocking pictured above, just leave me a comment to tell me the age and sex of the recipient and I might just pick out your name and send it your way filled with a few bits and bobs. I'll pick a winner on Wednesday...
P.S. I've changed the post options on this three times so that it says Sunday 5th December... but it keeps reverting back to 4th... it's NOT... it's the 5th!

  9. My, but ribbed spider's web looks an interesting stitch to have a go at.....
Incidentally, I "sussed" the paper stars by the way........ well, sort of..... mine looks a tad crumpled, but maybe after a bit of practice...........

  10. Love the stockings you all made. I got a homemade one that my mum made when I was little. Makes it that little bit extra special than shop bought ones.
If I win I'm give the stocking to my little boy Emrys who is 2.

  11. Lovely as always, Gina. I think my 3 year grandson, Callum deserves one to make up for the lack of attention to him after the birth of his baby brother and 3 baby cousins!
