Advent :: Day twenty three

When Gill and I went to the Selvedge Winter fair a few weeks ago one of my very few and modest purchases was this little fabric covered button from Ray-Stitch. My step daughter Kirsty has a little black cat called Ruby and although I didn't have the faintest idea what I would make I knew it would be the inspiration for her Christmas gift.

On Friday afternoon I allowed myself the luxury of a few hours stitching and this was the result.

Truth be told, I'm a bit reluctant to give this away and wondered why I don't ever make cushions for our sofa.

The back is a simple envelope closure... and a chance to use that special button. I don't do zips if I can help it!

Perhaps I should make one for us that says "No Reindeers on the Sofa"

As if the death of our many domestic appliances isn't enough I now cannot access my email account. I feel like running away and hibernating in a cave somewhere until April. But alas, there are still many things to do... including one last post here tomorrow, my 1000th post. See you back her for a special giveaway!

  1. Gosh Gina, how many gremlins are there in your house? I looove the cushion, and yes, you should make some for your settee. I hope you have managed to sort the washing by now. I have managed to miss yesterday and have just caught up with your lovelyy cake. Mine is iced but perfectly plain - can't be bothered doing anything more than that these days as it will only be the two of us seeing and eating it!

  4. In our house it would have to be 'No cats up the tree' - Cheeky got half way up last night and what with Mr Sock scaling the upper branches in order to knock the fairy off her perch, it was all getting a bit much.

  14. There must be a domestic appliance conspiracy going on this Christmas, my washing machine died this morning! I love your cushion but have to admit to a little surprise about the zips, I thought it was just me!

I shall wait until tomorrow to wish you a very Happy Christmas. :-)

  15. That is one cute cushion! You should definitely make the "no reindeer" cushion ... you know, when you're relaxing over the holidays ;) I can't believe it's Christmas Eve tomorrow. Presents are ready, but somehow I'm not. Wendy xox

  19. The cushion is really lovely, I hope Kirsty is suitably impressed with it! Somehow I missed yesterday's post (probably while I was upstairs for two hours fixing Dad's computer (again!) but have caught up now and the cake is lovely. Mine's done too, and just finished smothering the chocolate log with half a ton of. Chocolate buttercream. X

  21. Gina,
We especially love your apron (although the tea cosies we gave as Christmas gifts were very popular and having stuff nicked by siblings is a sure sign of success - in this case my sister and the holly hair bobbles!)
I'd like my husband to win an apron with this text:
    Passionate
    dEvoted
    arTistic
    & an Excellent cook!

Layout is critical (I can't force the right vertical alignment in this comment box) but I'm sure you're up for the challenge.

My reason (other than to have one of your great aprons)? He enjoys cooking, especially to relax when stressed and a free "Tastes of Bedfordshire" apron doesn't have any kudos!
