It started out like this...
and has ended up like this. Alchemy!
Mixed, baked, matured... (I lie it's only been a week)...
Marzipaned, iced and decorated... and all before Christmas Eve. Which is something of a record round here. I have been known to do the whole cake from start to finish on 24th December.
We might not have clean clothes but at least we have cake.
Alchemy...yes but the touch if an artist too!
ReplyDeleteAs for clean clothes..to quote Marie Antoinette "let them eat cake". :)

Yes my cake is waiting for its trimmings too! Yours looks lovely. Happy Christmas!!! x Jo
ReplyDeleteLove that cake! Ours is awaiting a bit of prettifying. I always go for that pretend snow effect with Royal icing and top off with our ancient cake decs. You know the sort, where the plastic robin is about three times larger than the plastic tree.
ReplyDeleteDon't know why I used a capital 'r' there!
ReplyDeleteWho needs clean clothes when one can eat cake?!
ReplyDeleteClean clothes are nice but cake is far more important. It looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHello, just been blog hopping and found your blog.
ReplyDeleteLovely cake.
My daughter is a textile designer working for Phase Eight at the mo.
It looks so lovely - so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat is one lovely looking cake!! It is real, right?! I can't imagine putting all that together the day before Christmas ... glad you don't have to rush this year. It gives you more time to scrub your clothes on the river rocks ;) My gosh you have a nasty appliance-breaking elf in your home! Merry Christmas Gina!! Wendy xox
ReplyDeleteOh oh!!! Your 3D edible holly is wonderful Gina. What a genius idea.
ReplyDeleteEdible Holly is everywhere this year :-)))
ReplyDeleteLooks good Gina. I've not decorated mine yet.
Cake made, but still needs decorating in this house. Hopefully a job for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAfter just reading yesterday's post, I'm glad that today looks a little better for you with the cake done. I think I might be like your previous years and be cooking the cake on Christmas Eve, or I maybe lucky and manage it tomorrow. All the best Gina and I hope someone takes pity on you and offers you a washing machine to use
ReplyDeleteYour cake looks beautiful! I made mine in July and have marzipanned it, but have yet to ice it. I'm being very lazy tho- I'm not going to decorate it-it never seems to be around for very long! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas xx
ReplyDeleteGina, like the looks of how alchemy works around your place! The cake looks great, and I am sure it will taste even better.
ReplyDeleteI've seen these sorts of Christmas cakes in photographs over the decades, but have never been in the UK at this very time of the year to actually sample one. Please do post a photo of a slice of the cake ... if you get a chance on Christmas Day.
(I admit to having a restorative afternoon nap on this day off, before returning to work tomorrow and Tuesday. So looking forward to Tuesday Evening...could that actually be Christmas Eve?)
xo
Whgo needs clean clothes when there is a cake like this! Fantastically wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Penny, stay home in PJs and eat cake!
