Once again I have succumbed to an eye infection. I seem to go three or four weeks with it clear and then it starts to itch and become infected with blepheritis again. In class yesterday it was irritating me so much I happened to mention that I would like to be able to cover it so I would resist the temptation to rub it. I joked that I should get an eye patch... and someone who shall remain nameless (but you know who you are!) suggested I make one... with an eye on it... and so the gauntlet was thrown.
While the rest of the class got to grips with cable stitch on their machines by making landscape pictures, I used cable stitch to embroider an eye patch.
What do you think to my new look? No, I'm not keen either so I'm back to the doctor this afternoon for more ointment.
Oh Gina this is so cool! Trust you to come up with such a creative solution. I think you look very 'Picasso' with it on. Good luck at the doctors x
ReplyDeleteOh - an eye infection is so miserable, but your eyepatch is very glam! I stopped wearing eye makeup when I needed my glasses on to see where I was putting it, but an eye patch like that is just the ticket. I would need two, with holes in to see where I'm going! Do hope you will soon be rid of it.
ReplyDeleteA very creative answer to a sticky problem. I had an eye infection last year and my eyes are a little itchy again this year. Before they get too bad I will try the Latvian treatment for all things like skin rashes, itchy eyes and the like - a strong brew of chamomile tea - cooled I hasten to add.
ReplyDeleteI need one too! I've had the same darn thing for two weeks, haven't had it for years. Bah.
ReplyDeleteA very fine patch! Hope your eye gets better soon though!
ReplyDeleteV, glam! Itchy bits are the worst. I have a stubborn patch of rough scaly and itchy skin on the back of my neck and it is driving me CRAZY.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting your (real) eye to clear up.
eye eye Gina! yuck how horrid for you but I do think you should make some for your Etsy shop - they are just fab. what great cataract op cover ups they would be. hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteChris suggests you take Tim Vine's advice and visit www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes!
ReplyDeleteSorry - hee hee!

As Julie says. That's really 'cool' Gina. I hope you find what's causing the problem soon, I know how irritating it is to have something wrong with your eyes. I have in-growing eyelashes and need to have them plucked out every few months.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant eye patch!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so much fun to look at, but I guess that being on the other side of the patch is no fun at all. I hope it clears up quickly for you.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Wish I had eyelashes like that!
ReplyDeleteThrow all your mascara etc away and buy new stuff :-( Might help stop reinfection (assuming you use MAscara etc of course!)
ReplyDeleteHope it clears up soon
I do love your purple eye shadow and I wish I had eyelashes like that!!! :)
ReplyDeleteVivienne x
Very fetching and just a little bit spooky! ;-) My mum had a bout of blepheritis some time ago and I know it's unpleasant. She had to bathe it with a moist cotton swab, one stroke, one cotton ball and discard (the cotton ball not the eyelid!). I think it's quite a tricky one to get rid of.
ReplyDeleteLove your eyepatch!!! Sorry to hear aobut your eye infection, hope it gets better soon. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds nasty, hope it's sorted before your trip to New Zealand!
ReplyDeletePoor you, I hope that you get your eye sorted out soon. I think your eye patch is a great way to stop rubbing it. Very creative!
ReplyDeleteLove the eye patch Gina,
ReplyDeleteone solution I tried for itchy eyes recommended by an Opticion is to apply Johnsons baby shampoo across the eye lashes with a cotton bud, it doesn't sting and worked for me
Gina, like others whose comments got here earlier, I do compliment you on the look of that stylish patch. And...hope that you have been back to see the doctor to sort out what's irritating your eyes.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I do hope the irritation isn't down to some sorts of fibers, and might just be some old mascara.
xo
Where's the other one then
ReplyDeleteI see you're giving Johnny Depp a run for his money! I hope the doctor can sort this out for you once and for all. You do so much close work on the machine I can understand ghow this must pull you down. Nevertheless, the patch is very fetching and you might start a trend....
ReplyDeleteThat is brilliant, but I hope your own eye can be sorted out soon- it sounds very uncomfortable!
ReplyDeleteThe eye patch is great! you might find that this is a new season trend - it could catch on, imagine Mel and her mates all walking around in their eye patches!(hee)
ReplyDeleteYour eye patch is amazing - but I'm sorry that you need it :o( At least you will have a very stylish poorly eye! Lucy xx
