We've been to Italy
We've eaten pizza on beautiful terraces
overlooking little piazzas
We stayed on the shores of Lake Garda
(not in the building above!)
where we swam in the warm lake every day.
We visited Verona,
that fair city where two star-cross'd lovers took their life.
and spent the evening at the most amazing Roman amphitheatre
where we saw an outdoor performance of Verdi's Nabucco.
I've never been to the opera before - it was an amazing spectacle.
But mostly we lazed around on the lakeside reading and relaxing.
I think I may have also eaten my body weight in ice cream over the week...
Although some people managed to drink their body weight in beer...
I was impressed because I couldn't even lift the glass!
It has been a wonderful relaxing holiday.
The boys looked after everything while we were away and the house was clean and tidy.
Jacob and his girlfriend even baked us a cake for our return.
Despite the laundry mountain, the autumnal weather and the rather desperate need to diet
it is good to be home!

What a lovely holiday - it sounds perfect. No doubt you have come home full of inspiration. I hope the drop in temperature isn't too noticeable.
Welcome back, it's good to see you actually relaxing. The ice-cream and beer look enormous! Glad the house was ship shape when you got back.

What a wonderful holiday. It sounds like you had a relaxing and well-deserved rest. Perhaps all the swimming helped overcome your ice cream indulgence? No matter! Your ice cream looks heavenly.

Glad to hear you had a lovely time. I'm off to Florida on Thursday, a few books to read and One Day on my Kindle. I have tried so hard to not listen to anything about the film, as I'm told it will spoil the book. Hoping to do some shopping for fabric etc, I have already emailed a shop owner. The Internet is just so helpful.

How loud did you laugh at Ms Moran? That was one of my holiday reads and I got on everyone's nerves with my snorty laughter. Most of which had to go unexplained because of the children ; )

This looks wonderfully relaxing. I could easily eat my body weight in ice cream but I'm not sure I could get through Wolf Hall on a week's holiday. You must be a speed reader! So glad you had a wonderful time. Lesley x
