The Collection is Complete

I can honestly say this last degree module "Embroidery for Fashion" has been a LOT of work! Combined with the busiest three months of teaching I've ever had there were times when I didn't think it would ever get done... but I've finished!

Fabric has been printed, dyed and stitched...

Areas have been embroidered and then cut back...

to reveal different fabrics...

or prints...

or even areas of Broiderie Anglaise.

Buttons have been covered with embroidered fabrics...

Which I have to say has been my favourite part.

I could happily sit for hours churning out these buttons by the dozen!

And finally I have produced my collection of two tops...

And three skirts.

Each presented with a set of samples

And two alternative colourways.

I've still got to mount it in a presentable form and collect together all my research into various files but the hard work has been done ready for moderation in two weeks time, which means I've got a whole month off before the next module... although I have got work to finish for an exhibition, more teaching and the small matter of four bridesmaids dresses to make. I think I might take the weekend off though!

  1. It looks great - and not a corset in sight. Bit worried about your enthusiasm for churning buttons out by the dozen but I'm sure that will lose it's appeal over time. Happy Easter

I love circles, and really enjoyed seeing what you have done with that image. Your embroidery is so beautifully done, and your touch of knowing how to strike a balance between tradition and the future is grand.
