It is not a requirement that any of the designs are made up into actual garments, but I kept wondering what if...
And this is the result...
It has been no mean feat stitching cotton jersey without an overlocker and I wasn't sure it would ever get finished.
In true window dressing fashion I've got the back held together with a peg as it is too big for me, so I'll probably never wear it but I'm pleased I've made it as it is one thing to have a design on paper but quite another to actually see it made up. I think it would work in the hands of a more experienced dressmaker (who measures rather than guesses sizes) with an overlocker!
wow - take it along, it's great. I think it's amazing when an idea becomes a reality like this, very satisfying.

ps. good luck!
Love the fashion sketch!
ReplyDeleteMy fave bit is the cuff with the buttons. I think it shows a lot of initiative to actually make up the garment. I know you'll make the right decision when the time comes.

Oooh yes, take it along - proof that it works! Love the details especially using the jersey. I think it looks better on the model than the hanger!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing, I love it, wear it (make some fancy pegs?), take it along just to show, it's wonderful!
ReplyDeletexxx
You must take it, even if you bottle out at the last minute! But you should show it, maybe find someone it will fit to model it? Denise
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous Gina - especially the sleeves/cuffs! Could you find a way of wearing it on Saturday (without having huge pegs sticking out of your back??)
ReplyDeleteLucy x

ReplyDeleteGina - I think it is fantastic and you should definitely make one the right size for you and get wearing it. I am surprised you haven't got some fashion houses knocking on your door for the design. I think it would be a big seller!!! Well done!

you MUST take it!
ReplyDeleteWow Gina -- it's amazing! Surely you could alter it to fit? And I agree with the group -- you must take it to class!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see someone else working till the very last minute. Don't you find that all the thinking and exercises come to a huge rush right at the end, and there is just so much in you that needs to come out. I think that you should indeed take your worked up design.
ReplyDeleteI had to have my work shipped - to be in the office TODAY. Didn't make that deadline - but tried to.
Thanks for sharing your JC work Gina, it's great.
Just casually wear it. And keep facing forward so the pegs are hidden!
ReplyDeleteTop stuff - those button cuffs are divine.
Oh do take it along! Your made up piece looks divine and will bring the whole moderation experience to life. That buttoned cuff is just so pretty. Good luck! x

ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic, you HAVE to show it!
ReplyDeleteJust a thimbleful.....
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Gina, brilliant. I came to fancy textiles via dressmaking and there is nothing like the joy of wearing something unique! By the way, I have an overlocker if you ever want to use one again....
It's utterly gorgeous Gina ... I hope you do decide to take it along. Good luck! x
ReplyDeleteYes you are brave enough to take it along on moderation day, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you could wear it, but if not then you must certainly take it along just to show how committed you are to your design work.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. :)
I have questions: creating clothes in stretchy jersey sans overlocker and (not) made to measure - what's going on there then? Will you be going off the peg (I have some shaped like blackbirds if you require quirky and wish to remain on said peg)? And are you taking orders as I can relate to clothes that are too big these days as it would go nicely with my desigual skirt?
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, girl, love it!!
Got to take it! It's such an eye-catcher and full of fun and quirky details.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!! It's wonderful to see your vision taken through all the required processes to the end result.
ReplyDeleteDo take it!
Just popping in for a catch up Gina and wanted to say well done for finishing all that work. Brilliant! x

ReplyDeletewhat an absolutely beautiful design, and the proof that it works is that you actually made it! Gorgeous job.
ReplyDeleteOh! I HAVE looked at this several times -you know the little mischievious cheeky reasons why I haven't commented.
ReplyDeleteGina it's stunning - I rather thought you couldn't resist. As many of the previous commenters have said I think the little buttons and the cuffs are wonderful touches.
