Reasons to be Cheerful

1. The weekend started with blueberry muffins for breakfast on Saturday.

2. The sun has been shining which has meant plenty of time working in the garden... with this little chap for company all day long.

3. British asparagus is in season. I don't like eating asparagus (or strawberries) out of season, which makes them taste all the better when they are!

4. The sun is shining so I can serve up salad for dinner!

5. My wisteria is in flower and looks so pretty.

6. I have finished my first "pair" of socks since joining in with Michaela's sock startitisis club.

Of course I wish I'd just made two the same because now I've got to knit another pair that look like this:

7. My broad beans (kindly given to me by Celia) are in flower... and such beautiful flowers!

8. Inspired by the fabulous Bakewell tart we ate last week, I made one for pudding this evening.

Very good warm with ice cream!

9. My essay is finished!!!

10. Because it is a bank holiday there is still another day of weekend left. Hope you're having a good weekend and the sun shines where you are too.

  2. Please stop posting luscious photos of muffins, Bakewell tart, etc. I am trying to be good and am very weak willed!! Couldn't agree more re asparagus and strawberries. Your wisteria is just ahead of ours and the broad bean flowers are lovely - mine are bog standard black and white. The socks are super and well done on finishing the essay - hope it gets a top grade for you.

  3. What lovely pictures Gina - that bakewell tart looks particularly yummy. And how fabulous to have a robin for company - my grandmother had one who always twittered away to her whilst she was gardening.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday Monday. x

  4. Congratulations on finishing the essay. I am now very hungry from seeing all that lovely food! I love wisterias too. Mine has one flower bud on it. I don't think it's very happy as it's in a ceramic pot and is waterlogged. Not sure how to get it out tho. Love the socks - thought you were floating in the photo for the minute!

    Have a good day tomorrow.

  5. my email to you bounced but I guess for you a robin would be like a willie wagtail for us – we have a couple who follow us around every time we are in the garden – chirping away and enjoying themselves!

Love the look of your wonderful fresh veg and the wisteria - can't grow it I can't!

  12. What a beautiful pair of socks!!!

And your beans are gorgeous - I had to search high and low on the internet to find crimson flowering broad beans so you are very lucky to have Celia as a friend! Mine are growing well but not anywhere near flowering stage yet.

Lots of other lovely goodness in your post too - sounds like a fabulous weekend.

  15. I love the little chirrups from robins when they're accompanying some gardening. Apparently they were companions to wild boar when they rootled in the ground - nabbing the worms unearthed.

Such lovely baking and sock magic as ever!
