By the time we got up and found the note Barley was very poorly indeed. He'd been very sick and had passed a lot of blood. After rushing him to the vet he was admitted to the animal hospital to be put on a drip and have tests. They are hoping it is just a tummy upset but it could be something serious.
I had all sorts of photos this week of sewing finished, cakes baked and plants growing, not to mention some lovely work from students but somehow I don't feel much like blogging about them now. Meanwhile I've got to get back to the kitchen as we've thirty people here for lunch tomorrow... a bit of a celebration for Sam for the publication of his book and because it's his birthday on Monday. I don't feel much like celebrating though... hope I'm back next week with good news.
Fingers crossed for Barley - really hope it's nothing serious.
ReplyDeleteJust back from holiday in Cornwall, so will have to post soon!
Gina, Hope news is good for Barley

Hope he gets better soon. Sorry to hear he is not doing well. Hopefully the distraction of so many people will take you away a little bit from the worry. I will keep my fingers crossed and I wish he has a speedy recovery.

What a worrying time for you all - Barley looks lovely and so much like a dog we had years ago called Russ. Do hope you have better news soon - thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog. Hope you get good news about him soon and that it's nothing more than a nasty tummy upset.
ReplyDeleteHope Barley is back home soon fit and well. Its awful when a pet is ill, we have a cat that is frequently rushed to the vets to be sorted out, not very nice for her or us, so I do feel for you all.
ReplyDeleteDespite all the problems hope you enjoy your lunch party and best wishes to your son.
Poor Barley - we are keeping everything crossed that he recovers really quickly. He's such a lovely chap.
ReplyDeletei hope Barley gets better soon - dogs have a way of going downhill fast but then they recover just as quick! will keep everything crossed.

ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope Barney gets better Gina. Let us know as soon as you can.
ReplyDeleteHave you mentioned Sam's book? Did I miss it? congratulations and happy birthday!
I hope you are back very soon with the very best of news.
ReplyDeleteDear Gina, I spotted your note on my Mum's blog (Raggedoldblogger) and I'm very sorry to hear about Barley, he looks a super dog. I hope you've had better news. Our thoughts are with you. Our youngest son's dog managed to ingest a stone, just after Christmas and was near death when we found him. Once the stone was persuaded to move on it's way and he was drip fed with all sorts of goodies, it was truly astounding how quickly he recovered. No matter how stony-hearted a person is, a dog becomes thier 'baby' - male or female - like it or not.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with yours.
Hope all ok and sorted now! best wishes, Z
ReplyDeleteoo no I hope he's ok and it's nothing too serious.
ReplyDeletedo like the note though ;)
Really really hope your doggy gets well soon :o(
ReplyDeleteThinking of you
Oh no, poor Barley! I do hope he's on the mend and that there's nothing serious wrong with him.
ReplyDeleteHope you (and the published birthday boy) enjoy your celebratory lunch x
p.s. very relieved to hear that you're struggling with 100 Years of Solitude too! I've been trying to read the Spanish version for 5 years, but as far as I can tell it's just a load of confusing nonsense! I'm sure most of the 'literary greats' exist purely to make you feel guilty for not 'getting' them.
Hope Barley is getting better. try not to worry too much ,dogs are remarkable ceatures, really poorly one minute and up asking for a walk the next.Sending hugs to you all!
ReplyDeleteThinking of Barley and wishing him a speedy recovery so that he can enjoy the celebrations with the rest of the family.
ReplyDeleteEverything crossed for him Gina, really hope he has a speedy recovery and is home soon, fit and well.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you all.
Diana xx
Fingers, legs, arms and eyes all crossed. It's not a good look, but hopefully it does the trick. Here's hoping Barley is much better very soon - such a handsome dog.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well for your lunch tomorrow too, and that Sam has a lovely birthday.

ReplyDeleteIt's just such a shock when things like this happen out of the blue isn't it. I read your following post and see that Barley is home again - what a relief!
