The published author and birthday boy had a good day too - lots of people brought along a copy of his book for him to sign.
And even I managed to sit down and relax... not something I do often!
Of course it wouldn't be a birthday without cake... so there were birthday brownies.
And at Sam's request, coffee and walnut cake - individual sized!
When most people had gone home there was another call to the vet and we were told Barley could come home. He's still on four lots of medicine (fun and games getting that into him this morning!) and a very bland diet and has to go back to the vet tomorrow. But overall he's much better, glad be home and enjoyed a snooze in the last of the evening sunshine last night. It's good to have him home.
p.s. Next post is my 300th... you know what that means!
So pleased he is back home with you all safe and sound. That phone call to the vets' for updates is one that always fills me with dread.
ReplyDeleteWow! You got the weather right for yesterday didn't you. Glad it all went well.
So pleased that Barley is home again enjoying the sunshine. He's had a rough time of it as have you. I remember getting pills down a dog! Not easy! Hope Barley continues to improve bless him.

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Barley's on the mend - it's such a worry when pets are ill, they can't tell you what's wrong or what they've eaten!

Awww, look at Barley, all tuckered out from the vets. It looks like you had a wonderful party -- I sure wish I could reach in my screen and grab one of those brownies!

ReplyDeleteGosh you have been busy. I'm glad that Barley is okay. Fancy cooking for 30, what a nightmare! I bet you handled it with ease.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your dog is home. x The brownies look yum and the day fab!
ReplyDeleteI've only just caught up with your marvelous news - Congratulations all round! Please give Barley a big cuddle from me - not forgetting a scratch on his tummy just below the ribs (you know, the one that gets their back leg dancing!). Our old dog Rusty used to do a brilliant performance of "Happy Feet". I've been working away in Orpington since Monday night and, miles away from my computer, had wondered how Barley got on. Your birthday/publishing celebrations look like they really hit the right spot. However, I really do think that your Coffee and Walnut cakes look ever so slightly poisonous and insist that I volunteer to test one or three, just to make sure they're safe for others to eat.
