Socks
After finishing Stewart's socks I decided it might be time to finish off the partners of several other single socks that have been lurking in my knitting basket. I started this pair for me over a year ago... but today I am finally wearing them! I've also decided I should be finishing off some other knitting projects before starting anything new and my "Gina" jacket is back on the needles... watch this space!
Another book
I have just finished reading Sarah Dunant's Birth of Venus. I'm not a great fan of historical novels but this is brilliant. Sarah Dunant's story conjures up Renaissance Florence in such a compellingly strong visual way that makes it utterly believable. I loved In the Company of the Courtesan too! Pure pleasure!
My Tax Return
Finally, after a moment of panic when I couldn't find any receipts or invoices for 2009/2010 in my very up market filing system (i.e. plastic bag)... I had obviously stashed them away in a different filing system (i.e. a different plastic bag)... I have got all my paper work done and have filed my tax return. Will you remind me that I have promised myself not to leave it until January again next year... and also that a different method of filing and keeping records up to date might be a wise move.
I love the socks, and I love the fact that your filing system sounds identical to mine! I too feel the need to find a different filing method, but somehow other things always seem more interesting!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with the tidying up of loose ends. I have yet to start any of the paperwork required to even think of filling in the tax return. I do this every January, get very stressed, and say NEVER AGAIN. Maybe this year I will get it together! So you're not alone Gina, perhaps we should all remind each other a few months down the line!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for finishing another pair of socks, something I've yet to achieve!!

my tax return is half done and tomorrow i must finish it. i had kinda forgotten about it. i love your filing system, sounds like mine. nice socks too x
ReplyDeleteLets agree to remind one another - and you have a deal! You make me feel quite organised, at least I have a proper plastic folder and I staple my receipts together in months. It is my MOST hated job.
ReplyDeleteI cannot tell you the joy I felt when HMRC politely informed me they no longer required me to fill in a tax return. Mind you, it did require me to no longer have any significant income so ...
ReplyDeletei just love your socks, they are gorgeous!

There's something so satisfying about clearing up those loose ends. Love the socks - I used the same yarn to make some for Minx and she loves them :o)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should make yourself a very special non-plastic bag to file those receipts in? Don't envy you the tax return at all!
xx
Great socks! I'm still working on a pair of yoga socks for DD.!
ReplyDeleteFabby socks! Just what's needed to make the tax return bearable. Thank goodness G helped me with mine this year.

Gina, what great stripy socks! Isn't it great to finally pick up a sidelined project and get all enthusiastic again. And, finish it.
ReplyDeleteI still think that with all you do accomplish you must have found some way to have 8 days in your weeks. xo
Wonderful socks! Am finishing off projects here too. Luckily, I did my tax return quite some time ago so that one was off my back. Tax return and MoT days are my worst days of the year...........
ReplyDeleteThe socks are gorgeous, well done for finishing them - your feet will thank you now the weather has a nip in the air again! Well done too for keeping mr taxman at bay - your filing system sounds a bit like mine!
ReplyDeleteLovely socks, don't wear with shoes on or they will lose their look.A belated thank you for my postcards of your lace book .Just what I needed at the time to really cheer me up.
ReplyDeleteI almost missed this post - you were tucked in behind one I have already seen. Love the socks. Thank goodness I don't have to do tax returns. To think I once set up a new filing system for my boss! I use plastic bags too now!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful socks Ms. Gina! I'm feeling your tax pain -- after a panic last night, I'll be visiting the local tax office today for some advice LOL! I think we're living parallel lives or something -- I'm finishing socks and have an almost finished sweater from several years ago that I'm thinking will hit the needles next.
ReplyDeleteI tell myself every year that I'll do my tax return earlier than January. Thankfully, I only have a few left to do - it's one of the things I hated doing most about being your own boss.
ReplyDeleteLove the socks.
Lovely socks! I am just starting a bookkeeping course so I will have no excuse for any late tax returns now will I!!
