I thought I would make a sponge cake to enjoy with our afternoon tea over the weekend.
This was what remained on Saturday morning! And it wasn't me.....

You see, it just isn't worth it.
ReplyDeleteMoral of the story? Make 2 hide 1!
ReplyDelete;o)
If you're short of cake pop over - we had people for tea and I overcatered ...
ReplyDeleteWho you kidding!!!It looks just scruptious!!

Oh! Do you have those nighttime squirrels too?
ReplyDeleteOh! Some little mice arrived perhaps. They're quite dextrous with the knife aren't they? Not bad for teeny tiny paws.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm!!!! Sounds familiar, same thing happens in our house and there's only 2 of us and it isn't me !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove Julie's solution, the only thing is he'd find that one too eventually :-)
i'm not surprised its all gone - looks scrummy - mine can sometimes disappear from the cooling rack!!!

I was just about to say "I'm not surprised it all went - it looks delicious" and then I saw Maria's comment - Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteOf course it wasn't you. I seem to remember we're cut from the same cloth*. A slice of cucumber beats a slice of sponge any day.
ReplyDelete(* These days it's heavy weight 150cm wide furnishing fabric in my particular case, but don't tell anyone else: perhaps I should lay off the cucumber)
Well, that's done it - I'm going to have to make one now!

It would have been me..
ReplyDeleteWell it was obviously a good one, and you will retain your figure longer than I have!!
ReplyDeleteYum! I would have eaten it all.
ReplyDeletemmmmm....plain victoria sponge, done well, is my favourite cake...I hope you got at least one slice!
ReplyDeleteAt least they left you a sliver!
ReplyDeleteIf I'd been there, that last piece would have been missing too! Mmm! K x
ReplyDeletehmmm... I think Julie has the right idea.
