Half Way!

While my husband and his son sat through three consecutive games of Rugby on Saturday afternoon I busied myself with some more miniature books and have finally passed the half way mark... I feel like I've made 126 not just 26! It is my intention that every book is unique which does mean that when several people ask for the same theme, I've got to really put my thinking cap on.

This one is the first of two "Bird" themed books I've been asked to make.

I opted for two little machine embroidered bluebirds on the covers.

And a pretty little bluebird button on the matchbox.

This next one is for a keen gardener...

Who especially likes his pot plants.

I couldn't resist throwing in a miniature packet of seeds.

I've been asked to make three "music" themed books. For the first I've opted for the Shakespeare quote from "Twelfth Night"

And for the second one I've taken music ranging from Bach...

through to the Beatles (because I believe the recipient is a fan of both!)

But I haven't a clue what I will do for the third "Music" book yet

Of course, my biggest worry now is that the person who receives the first one wishes they had got the second one and vice versa... or maybe they will both wish they got the third one when I finally get around to it... Oh dear!!!

I've plans for a couple more before the end of the week and I'm gradually working my way down the list. I apologise now if you are still waiting and promise I will get straight back to work on them after my holiday... but for now I still seem to have the urge to clean and tidy. Five kitchen cupboards, the fridge and the deep freeze all got attacked today!

  2. All the books are wonderful, I love them all and the standard of each is as high as that exquisite first one - I'm sure each of the recipients will be delighted.
I wish I had your energy - my cupboards leave much to be desired. Perhaps I should book a trip abroad!

  4. I gave my kitchen a big tidy on Friday, and cleared out the past/nearly-past it's sell-by date stuff, hence my sardine paste sandwiches for work today. Why EVER did I buy sardine paste???
Gina, all of your books are beautiful, tiny works of art and believe me, all the recipients are going to treasure them x

  10. So how many of us crafters actually enjoy the time when our other halves have their eyes glued to the Rugby or Football? It gives us a great excuse to get our current project out without feeling guilty!

I spent the time finishing a project for my daughter, you can see the ta..dah on my blog if you pop over and have a look.

  11. Speaking as the person who bought the first book, could you please replicate books 2-26 then on to 50 so I don't miss out. (You can do them after your holiday if that helps). BTW - knitting needles are on the list of things you can take on planes although whether or not you have a fight at security is another matter!

  17. I love the ideas Gina. They keep coming! Lovely books and I'm sure the recipients will be delighted. I can see your suitcase on the return journey from NZ being filled with all the things you'll see over there that could go into a matchbox book...

Have a great time. I know you'll come back with a head full of exotic inspiration. You'll be missed but I feel sure you'll be able to fit in a quick blog post or two while you're away.
