Thank You

I'm back! That didn't work did it... switching off my comments... you all emailed me! But I'm not complaining because you have all been very kind, offered excellent advice and made me realise I have a lot of very caring friends out there... even the one who started with "Hey snotty grotty" who made me laugh very loudly!
I wasn't sure about writing the post and then when I posted it I wondered if I should delete it but Elizabeth sent me this link which expressed very eloquently some of how I felt.

Yep, I'm still a bit snotty and grotty but a good night's sleep has done me the power of good and I'm not about to make any rushed decisions. I'm not a quiter and hate to give up on things (through sheer bloody mindedness if nothing else) so will probably hang on in there for a bit longer. Although I did have a thought that if I got my fees refunded I could afford to go and see Joe in New Zealand... just a thought...

Anyway I'm back sooner than planned because I have exciting news about my DVD. It will be available from 1st December priced £22 (including pp)... however it can be pre-ordered from me for a mere £18 (including pp). Although it is aimed at beginners or those fairly new to machine embroidery it has a lot of tips for those wishing to brush up their skills. So if you think you might like a copy, email me and I'll give you more details. The pre- launch price is only available until 1st December and the same offer is available from the Colouricious website should you prefer to order from them. (Although if you order from me I actually get to earn some money for this venture!)

This time I probably will disappear for a week or so... I'm off teaching at Missenden Abbey for the weekend and then I'll be back at University on Tuesday and teaching again next Wednesday and Thursday... nothing changes!

  1. Glad you are feeling a bit better Gina. I think you'll find a few comments on your previous post too! Don't work too hard and undo all the good your enforced rest has done. Sorry to sound like a nagging mother but I have four daughters! Best wishes and congrats on the birth of your DVD.

  4. that explains why the comment button wasn't there, I really felt for you, glad you're on the mend. I hope Missenden Abbey gives you a bit of space to be peaceful in between the teaching - that can be really exhausting. Sounds like a lovely place to be going to

  9. I'm more or less relieved that I wasn't the only one who emailed with a non-comment. Glad that you feel rested a bit which gives another outlook on things. Take good care of yourself and have fun with the class at Missenden Abbey.

  11. I would say stick in there - postgraduate study is a process of learning and discovery - there is a lot of plugging away before you get to the eureka moment, and it doesn't all happen at once. I did an MA and PhD and was filled with self-doubt right up to the end - even as I walked into my final viva!

So expect low points, but you will learn and grow, and in the end amaze yourself at what you are capable of doing.

  15. Dear Gina,
As I can attest from my own experience, doing a masters in the arts is like riding a roller coaster. There are waves of frustration that make you wonder why you signed on. And yet sometimes that frustration can be the sign of a pending breakthrough. Hang in there.
Congrats on your DVD release. You go girl!

  18. That DVD has my name written all over it. Reserve me a copy please! I'm not expecting you to turn me into a machine embroidering whiz but I like the idea of starting from the beginning.I'll e mail to make arrangements as and when. As one of your nagging e mailers it's good to see the return of your positive spirit. Wish I'd thought of calling you 'snotty grotty'....

  20. Do your feet ever touch the ground Gina? Refrained from the e mail as thought you wanted a break, but I am sure you'll get everything back in perspective. Being snotty and grotty isn't a good time for making decisions. It's still early days on your MA ( although I'm sure there is a the limit for a refund). Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, and hope you are feeling fully recovered soon.

  23. Glad you're feeling better but it's fine to feel 'snotty and grott' whenever you need to.
