The Sound of Silence

It's true, I'm in denial about Christmas. Far too many other things going on to think about it yet... until I looked in my diary at the beginning of the week and had one of those "Oh, no" moments. It would appear I've committed myself to a couple of open days this weekend.

After hastily sorting out what stock I've got, I ran up some extra Christmas cards last night and I think I'll be alright...

Except I've now lost my voice. It started to crack yesterday afternoon when I was teaching and has now virtually disappeared.... nothing... just a pathetic croak. Which is a little alarming because I'm giving a presentation about my work at University on Tuesday, so I'm hoping this will do the trick.

Meanwhile, if you are in the vicinity do pop in for my Open Days...
I'm open from 10am until 4pm Saturday and Sunday.
There will be mulled wine and mince pies...
I just won't talk to you!

  1. A lot of it about Gina, the sore throat I mean. Mine started on Sunday, now I've got a stuffy head and a horrid cough! Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Brilliant robins! I lost my voice last week and had violent coughing fits along with it - great fun! Cinnamon and cider vinegar is supposed to work wonders too, but tastes foul. And elderberry jam in hot water is supposed to be a miracle cure - I used it last year. Tastes revolting, but again, cinnamon takes the edge off. Basically, I just mix a witch's brew of the whole lot - cinnamon, honey, elderberry, apple cider vinegar, maybe a squeeze of lemon too, hot water - and chug it down. Yugh. You won't be able to talk at all then because of the afterburn! Seriously, just don't say a word for a few days, and I hope you're feeling better very soon xx

  10. If the honey fails Gina, get some fresh sage leaves, steep them in hot water until it cools slightly and then gargle with it. Never fails. It's my tried and trusted sore throat cure and sage is the herb of longevity... so you can plan open days for many years to come! Good luck with the weekend. Know any sign language?
