Spring has Sprung

When we walk out from our back garden we are fortunate enough to step out into a beautiful conservation meadow which is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna. I always think that it acts as a wonderful barometer of the seasons and I know that when it looks like this...

Covered with literally hundreds and hundreds of delicate little cowslips...

Then Spring has finally arrived

A season of longer, brighter and warmer days that feel hopeful and optimstic. It makes me feel that anything is possible.

And as an added bonus there are several clumps of these too, as well as all the cherry blossom.

On a completely different note, I have a request from a friend Carol.... She used to be friends with a lady called Cha Ching Dawson who lived in East Hanningfield, Chelmsford where she was doing her City & Guilds (I assume in embroidery). Cha Ching moved to the Cambridge area to look after her elderly parents who have since passed away, but Carol has unfortunately lost touch and would dearly like to make contact with her friend again. If any readers know Cha Ching could you email me (via my profile on the side bar) and I can pass on Carol's details. Thank you!

  4. I love to see the cowslips too but I think that would be another month maybe here in Latvia. I know when Spring is finally on the way when the snow starts to visibly disappear and the storks arrive back, both happened this week

  6. What a treat to be able to walk out into that lovely meadow - wild flower meadows are so precious and I love cowslips. Will there be bee orchids later? I love those too.

  8. Oh, I love cowslips! I always think of them as very rare, because I never see any anywhere in London. A whole meadow of them would be wonderful.

  9. What a fantastic meadow to have behind your garden! We know that spring has sprung here because the Sussex permamud has dried up and we can wear trainers to go round the woods: we've been following the progress of the bluebell growth and each day this week more blue flowers have emerged. I love spring.

  11. Isn't it amazing how the sun and some spring flowers can improve our mood? I'm even finding time to go up to the allotment although I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the digging there is to do! Lucy xx

The weather is just perfect this week - and light evenings too (I love weeding the veg patch at dusk)

  14. Lovely, lovely pictures. I must admit to being jealous that your spring is so far ahead of ours in Wisconsin, USA!
