Temptation

  • I most definitely do not need any more yarn

  • I absolutely, without question do not need any new projects

  • I most certainly do not need any more blankets

So why have I given in to temptation and bought all this beautifully coloured yarn?

Why have I been seduced by all the fabulous granny striped projects appearing in blogland?

And why am I making another crochet blanket when I've already got one half made?

No answers really... except I couldn't resist! I've been playing a little game with myself... letting myself crochet one stripe per day whilst watching the evening news... and then I cheat and do a couple so I'm a day ahead of myself... Am I the only one who plays silly games like this? But it's okay, because Jacob caught me surreptitiously adding an extra stripe the other day and decided he would like this blanket for himself. So now I've got a reason to be making it.

Tomorrow I'm off to the Festival of Quilts for the day and I must remember...

  • I most definitely do not need any more fabrics
  • I absolutely without question do not need any new projects
  • I most certainly do not need any quilts

  2. You'll be fine at the Quilt Show Gina - just remember to wear a blindfold! Your blanket is gorgeous and definitely a happy blanket - good enough reason for making several I'd say. I'm glad I'm not the only one who buys yarns 'without good reason' - it's obviously contagious.

  3. Hi Gina
Yay, you are granny striping! I must confess mine has sat unattended for a little while, however I picked it up and did a bit whilst watching the TV the other night, and I also play that game with myself, which goes 'just finish this row and then go to bed' and then, 'just change colour and do a few more to set it in, and then go to bed'...

  4. I do the same, keep finding more projects to do, but often not finishing the first. And yes I also buy wool for no reason, especially as I'm still a very slow, new knitter and crocheter! Temptation is always hard to resist! :) x

  7. I don't need any more yarn, fabric, or projects either, but that never seems to stop me. Sigh.

But your blanket is so gorgeous it's definitely worth breaking all the rules for!

  8. Those are really good questions Gina!
Sadly I don't know the answer to any of them as I suffer from the same 'condition'. I don't know of any cure. I also play the games as well (just one more row, then I'll do the ironing!). It is nice to know that I don't 'suffer' this problem alone.
Good luck with resisting the fabric tomorrow!

  11. Hahaha -- good luck with those little rules for the quilt show. So far, I've managed to keep the grannies and stipes at bay, but it's getting harder every day!

  14. Aaaaaaaargh! My first comment got lost! Your blanket is gorgeous! And I hope you have a lovely time at the Festival tomorrow - I was trying to work out if I could go for a bit tomorrow on our way to our holiday but I don't think there is enough time to make it worthwhile which is a shame as I've never been before :o( Hope you get tempted by lots of lovely bargains and new projects and plans!!! 20. I can't resist either but thank goodness I live in rural Latvia where shops with gorgeous fabrics are few and far between and I keep forgetting about the new little wool shop in the village. Maybe I should go and have a peek though.

Have just found this forum but love the work and once I have finished collecting hay and dealing with processing veg I am looking forward to getting some projects done.

  29. The wool is gorgeous the blanket is lovely and that is why you play silly games with yourself and try to jusifty buying and doing. Just like the rest of us. If I was you I would stop trying to justify because there are hundreds of reasons and excuses but in the end we just can't help ourselves and obviously we always have to be doing something. Just not the thing that needs finishing. So enjoy your day and your purchases.
