We had our first meeting of the year for Spectrum this week. I thought it would be a good idea to get the group doing some observational drawing using ink... so no rubbing out!
I wasn't looking for excellent drawings or superb technical skill. It was just an exercise in observation looking at marks, lines, shapes etc
But I do get a hard time from some people when I make them draw!
Oh dear you're working them hard!! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend Gina,
Vivienne xxx
Vivienne she worked us very hard! Gina your drawings are beautiful I just wish I had your talent.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful confident drawings. I struggle with drawing and feel I have lost my impetus since making a reasonable job of one before Christmas. My tutor will now expect me to carry on producing! Keep cracking the whip - we all know that we need it!!
ReplyDeleteIt's true, the more you draw, the more enjoyable it becomes and not a chore any more! Angela made me laugh, thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteJess x
Your drawing is beautiful. I would love to be able to draw, but have
ReplyDeletelittle talent for it.
Shells can be so interesting, and tricky, to draw. They are a motif that I used as subject matter many years ago. I made very large colored pencil drawings of very small shells, exploring all those subtle color changes that appear so different when the shells are wet or dry. I also made an etching, with aquatint of a shell, seeing a sort of landscape appear on the inside of what might have been a clam shell.
ReplyDeleteAll this was long ago.
See how you have taken me down memory lane, Gina!
oh gosh. I so cannot draw.
ReplyDeleteI'd need someone to make me too!
I would never have suspected your sadistic bent Gina!
ReplyDeleteI love drawing shells and have quite a few to draw from.
Having spent two hours in a portrait drawing session today, sat next to an octagenarian who could draw like da Vinci, I know just how your group feel.....I know where my sympathies lie... x
ReplyDeleteDrawing! Outrageous! I hope they got a refund.
ReplyDeleteLovely sketches, Gina, ink is a great media to use. The variations in tone in the top one are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMust say you can't beat a bit of drawing.
ReplyDeleteThey'll thank you one day....I'm sure!
