A Stitching Interlude

There has been stitching happening here in between the baking. Next week I'm teaching a class at Bee Crafty near Huntingdon.

A great class for beginners in machine embroidery as it involves lots and lots of practise creating all the individual flowers and leaves to make one of these cheery flower garlands.

And then I got to thinking that as it is now November I could probably sneak in a little seasonal flower garland.

So this is what I came up with... lots of poinsettas, christmas roses and holly leaves. A project suitable for beginners but fun for those with a bit of experience too. Think what you could do if you started adding buttons and beads too... I'm thinking red buttons for the holly berries... some sparkly frosty beads on the roses?

Thursday 8th November*
10 am until 4 pm

I believe there are a few places still available and it is a lovely friendly place to do a workshop... not only a wonderful shopping opportunity with super staff... but they feed you cake and biscuits too! And I would LOVE to see you there.

Speaking of cake and biscuits...  must fly, some more baking beckons.

* I'm not sure why when walking the dog random things pop into my head but they do... and this morning "You've put the wrong date in that post" popped up from nowhere. And indeed I had... it should indeed be Thursday 8th November not Friday as I would have led you to believe!

  5. I love the garland, it's great! Would absolutely love to come but just a tad to far to go. If you are ever in my neck of the woods though, now that would be a different thing altogether. If you ever fancy the trip to Latvia, you'd be more than welcome

  6. What a lovely way to improve one's machine embroidery skills. With a bit of luck even the beginners will have a beautiful Christmas garland to take home with them.

  13. Oh Wow! They are beautiful and just when I am pondering on trying to machine embroider bits and pieces onto the plain squares of the quilt I am making at the moment - my first! Maybe that's too much of a challenge, but if I practice first on some scraps, I might be ok! xCathy
