There has been a lack of baking around here since Christmas (ahem!... if you don't count the two Guinness chocolate cakes) because more than one of us needs to shed a few pounds that have been gained over the festive season. It hasn't worked... the pounds have stayed were they are around our middles. So I decided that this weekend I would bake anyway.
Chocolate chip cookies... except I didn't have chocolate chips so in a moment of inspiration I bought some Crunchie Bars, bashed them into pieces and added those instead. It was one of my better inspired moments. Three dozen Crunchie cookies... not many left.
I then got carried away and made rolls and an apple cake...
so those pounds are still around our middles and today I'm trying to ignore the leftover baking.
I'm telling you... it's not easy!
Those cookies sound delicious please can I have the recipe?
ReplyDeleteAt least the two of you can sympathise together, my hubby just eats and eats and rarely puts on weight and if he does loses it just as easily, whereas I just put it on. Pah! And I have to keep baking for hubby to keep any weight on him and so I have to try and avoid cakes all the time.
ReplyDeleteSoooo goooooood. I want!
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look and sound delicious and would only add to the extra pounds, but in moderation the rolls and apple cake should be safe and only a bit naughty. It's too cold for dieting, anyway.
ReplyDeletePS. I could help you to diet by eating the cookies for you!
Oooh! Like the sound of 'Crunchie' cookies...recipe?
ReplyDeleteI'll help you with the left over Apple cake and the birds would love the bread if you haven't frozen them?
I've just been fancying some choclate...not got any in the home at all..Sad eh?
Have a great week,
Sandie xx
oh yum. dont they look eatable. glad I'm not at your house Gina I would only have to look at them to put on weight ! lol
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds good to me, this weather makes me want to cook! Like Joanna my husband can eat whatever he likes and never gains weight I just look at it and the ponds pile on!
ReplyDeleteOoooh Yum! Dieting is REALLY hard when one loves to bake! Those cookies look amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo, how are you planning to lose the pounds on the middles? Walking perhaps?
ReplyDeleteApple cake here too........ with freshly grated ginger..........
ReplyDeleteLoving the sound of crunchy in cookies!
Oh Gina, if I'd been near your neighborhood, I'd have been so glad to help you with taking care of those delicious looking baked goods.
ReplyDeletewow! xo
Ooh I so love apple cake and the Crunchie idea is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteTell me about it! I keep "having" to make cakes to deal with our surplus veg - last week it was beetroot&chocolate (with chocolate buttercream, obviously) and this week was butternut squash (with cinnamon cream cheese frosting). What's a girl to do?!
ReplyDeleteHow come you manage to just 'invent' cakes??? Even if I follow a recipe and they're usually 'not all that'. Anyway, I'd have eaten the Crunchies on the way back from the shop.
ReplyDeleteCrunchies and biscuits!!! Get thee behind me Satan!
ReplyDeleteOh those cookies sounded gorgeous yummy - may have to try them.
ReplyDeleteWe have been good and been avoiding the cakes for the same reason but I think February is such a cold month we may need to start them again !!
Crunchie cookies, yes please! Oh forgot diagnosed with diabetes on the 30th December 2011. 2012 I have to be good. Boring.
ReplyDeleteI'm really struggling to resist the children's baking when I should definitely be trying to lose the 9lbs I gained over Christmas and the extra few stones that I am carrying around as well! I am determined not to eat any baking this week - however delicious it looks and smells! Wish me luck! Lucy xx
