There's a Theme...

going on this week... Inspired by the masses of daisies in the conservation area behind our house.

Some machine embroidery on felted backgrounds that were worked on the embellisher...

Because at our SPECTRUM meeting this month we were exploring the effects we could achieve with the embellisher machine.

Tiny pieces just 2" square.

A larger piece also on an embellished background but with the addition of some hand stitching

Nothing fancy... just French knots and running stitch.

I had set a challenge this month to stitch an orange square and I felt I ought to set an example and make one too... so the theme continued with a change of background colour. Lots of machine stitching in this one.

and finally... just because I felt like it... some 18mm buttons with a combination of applique with both machine and hand stitching. And the more daisies that I stitch... the more ideas I have, which is a shame really becuse I must get back to some degree work next week.

  2. I love daisies tto! I've just been painting some on old coffee jars (to make candle holders not to decorate the coffee!).

  3. Your daisies are delightful and so inspiring - I might try something similar with some embellished pieces I have been making. I am often struck by the impact of a simple design and treatment. Each of your small daisies would make a beautiful card for someone special and I love the background of the orange piece. Thankyou for your inspiration.

I have this mental picture of you. In my eyes you are Superwoman! If anyone can make all these stunning things and do a degree at the same time it must be you surely? Amazing energy and productivity... send some of it my way please! Lesley x
