Baubles, Bangles and Beads

At our Young Embroiderers meeting today we had lots of fun wet felting and made felt beads. There was also some blowing of bubbles and flicking of soap suds but we won't mention that! The morning was spent making stockpiles of beads and after lunch we put them together to make various items of jewellery.

Some of the girls decided to make anklets as modeled by Imogen above and Abigail below.

Amun declined to model her beautiful necklace, which was stunning.

Here's Bluebell modelling hers... which matched her top beautifully.

Another anklet by Francesca

A bracelet from Heather

A choker style necklace from Hannah

Shaan make a necklace that also matched what she was wearing perfectly.

And Sophie made a colourful choker too.

Rhian made a bracelet and had enough beads left for a matching necklace. As ever it was a super day...  girls, Mums and helpers... thank you!

We've also had another birthday this week which of course has meant another cake because apparently you are not too old for a birthday cake even when you are fifty something...

Happy Birthday Stewart!

It was just what I needed after a day playing with soapy water.

  16. That takes me right back to when I was a children's worker, mainly for churches and I often used to organise wet felt making as most children can do it from 3 upwards and still get a result, Even better the more ham-fisted the child usually was, the better the result they got - a great lift to self-esteem.

  23. Lovely beads Gina. I know how tedious they can be to make after a while so well done to the girls for sticking to the task and making such professional looking pieces. Very stylish. The red necklace is a winner. Lesley

  25. What a delightful collection of beads! All sizes and all colors, they're definitely eye candy. A very cute project for the 'between teens'....of course, I wouldn't mind a beaded necklace, myself. Thank you for that posting, and for the picture of cake. I wish I could say the picture satisfied my tummy rumblings...but, oh well, I suppose I'll have to find a good recipe and head to the kitchen.
