If The Hat Fits

Remember my lovely yarn purchases from Loop last week?
Well, I finished my first hat.

I loved the yarn, so soft to to knit with.
I loved the pattern, so easy to follow and quick to knit.
And I love the finished hat, so comfortable and cosy to wear

I even love  the little cord on top... a last minute addition from me.

But I don't love the fact that it does this when I've only had it on for 10 seconds!

Hmmmm! Smaller needles when I knit the pink one I think!
(note to self: this is why we knit tension squares)

I'm sorry Gina but I had to laugh at your final photo. Love the hat and I can almost feel the softness of the yarn. Would a band of thin elastic around the inside of the hat keep it snug to the shape of your head? Or would unpicking and reknitting be the simplest answer?

Glad it's not just me who doesn't knit tension squares :)

Hee hee - I made one that does this too. I've decided my head isn't designed for slouchy hats - or maybe it's my hair which just isn't floofy enough to keep a floppy hat on.

Love the colour of your hat though :o)

Gina, that hat is too nice to waste, how about a bit of superglue to keep it up :-)

Well, when your guerilla lace goes viral, you will need a way to hide from the paparazzi ... maybe you could send one to Banksy?

(ducking and running away)

Tension squares take the excitement out of knitting!

I'm the opposite! My hats always seem to ping off! I have a big head... or so I thought... perhaps I should try a tension square but can never be bothered!

Tension square? Sorry, I haven't a clue!
But, hey, if you're interested in a knee-length sweater with fabulously loooong sleeves, do let me know!

ROFL - have been sitting here chuckling away to myself. Thanks for the laugh Gina. I never bother with a tension square either

It's ace! Despite pinging off it looks very chic to me. Could you (whispers) thread some transparent shearing elastic round the inside? My knowledge of knitting is so minimal I don't know whether this is even possible.

Oh dear. You could always try felting it - it worked for me!
Or try tucking it behind your ears like Fred Scuttle.
