To My Valentine

One of the objects we were shown on our love themed tour of the V & A on Thursday was this delightful carved lapis lazuli pair of Mandarin Ducks, which are symbolic of love in China.

Taking them as my inspiration, I cut my own pair of Mandarin Ducks to make a Valentine card

Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. That is very clever, and beautiful. I wasn't so original, only tried to cut simple layers of heart pop ups, but I couldn't get the cut lines to flow smoothly and gave up.

  2. Beautiful! You must have the patience of a saint to cut out all those little pieces. St Valentine perhaps! :)

  9. And now I feel doubly bad that all Mr DC has to look forward to is leftovers and stale cake.

  10. Beautifully done Gina - and I love the Japanese paper background too.

I wouldn't mind swapping flowers for those lapis lazuli ducks!!!

PS we stocked up with indulgent treats from a certain posh supermarket on Saturday - plan to scoff the lot tonight, with hardly any cooking involved :-)
