Bonkers!

I've always loved the original Tenniel illustrations.

And although some Disney adaptations can be a little disheartening (don't get me started on Winnie the Pooh) this chap still makes me smile.

And after seeing the latest version at the weekend... (which I absolutely LOVED!!!)

I was feeling somewhat inspired to try my own version...

I'm not convinced I've got him quite right yet...

All that green makes him look like a leprechaun...

And the facial features are a little too menacingly mad rather than gently bonkers (as all the best people are, of course)

What do you think... shall I work on improvements... or should I just stick to the mad vicars?

Mmm... two posts in one day... I think it is time for Tea.

  3. The mad vicars do look more benign but I think your hatter is great - he makes a fab design for a tea cosy.

  5. Have you done the whole tea cosy in a day?!?!? All I've done is tidy/untidy/retidy my workroom and mounted a few samples.
    I must try harder.
If I were you, I'd send a photo of the Alice cosy to Johnny Depp and ask him if he'd like you to present it to him.
    Could happen.

  6. I love the Mad Hatter, I would prefer him on my morning pot of tea to the vicars.

  9. I like him, but if I'm honest I do think it's his teeth that need the work. The teeth make him look really scary! But I think you should work on him and add him to your repertoire.

  10. He is very green indeed, but rather endearingly so. Tall Small is reading Alice at the moment and I'm enjoying the Tenniel illustrations all over again. Lovely stuff!
