I get baking! And for various reasons it's been a tough week. It started last Saturday with a batch of double chocolate brownies...
On Sunday I made soda bread...
and scones for afternoon tea.
On Monday there were chocolate chip cookies
and on Tuesday some banana bread.
On Wednesday I made sesame seed rolls
and blueberry muffins.
By Thursday the baking had worked its magic. Tempers were soothed, broken hearts mended, problems solved, stitching completed, degree related issues (partially) resolved, work finished and confidence restored. I also gained 2 lb!
If in doubt....cake! Yum - I gained 2lb just looking. Glad the bakey-therapy worked. Sorry you had a tough week though. Interested to know about the resolution of the degree issues. Emma x
ReplyDeleteYep tough week here too - and I know of so many others who have struggled lately. Very pleased to hear things are better for you though - and no wonder you gained 2lbs! (Oh, and I have chocolate brownies in the oven, as I type ;-) ) x
ReplyDeleteBaking?
ReplyDeleteGood plan!
Only I've gone one better and got DOROTHY to do all the baking this week!!!!!
So far we've had:
chocolate puddle pudding,
2 lots of double chocolate muffins,
2 lots of cheese and rosemary bread,
and cheesey snowflakes
(all when she wasn't feeling very well)
and tomorrow she will be making chocolate chip cookies - when I tell her, that is!

Gawd you sound like me - Bake away the angst. Glad it worked Gina and I hope everything is calmer now. Horrible to have these tough times, but I love that you make the best of it xx
ReplyDeleteOnly 2lbs? That is an epic week of baking and it all so fantastically good. Those sesame rolls look particularly impressive.
ReplyDeleteI may need to bake tomorrow to distract me from the pile of rubble that used to be my bedroom!!

I'm hungry - it's 8.50pm and I don't eat after 8.00 - if I have anything else tonight it will be all your fault!! Lovely home baking would soothe away all manner of blues. Hope all is well now.
ReplyDeleteI'd have gained more than two... it's amazing how yummy food can help restore the equilibrium!
ReplyDeleteJudging by the look of what you baked it was well worth gaining the 2 lbs!!!! I only have to look at these and I can gain 2 lbs - which I can well do without!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful display! I have to send my DD your way as she has the same inclination, and being in her first year at Uni requires LOTS of baking!

Yes that the problem with baking, but it all looks delicious. Hope your weekend is happier. Jane x
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow Woman! When can I come over -- it all looks fantastic! You're not alone in the poundage -- for some reason I've been on a sugar binge LOL!
ReplyDeleteNext time you are having a tough week can I come and stay? I promise to do all the washing up.
ReplyDeleteI'd view it as 2 lb well invested! Yummmmm.
ReplyDeleteI agree - baking is just the thing to make you feel better. The things you made look lovely - fancy sharing your recipes with us? I must really have a go at soda bread.
ReplyDeleteGlad things have resolved for you Gina ~ I think I need to learn to bake ~ hope you have a better week :) Judy xx
ReplyDeleteI hope that, on the baking barometer, you have a better week this week.
ReplyDeleteYour cooking looks as gorgeous as ever, but I keep telling you it's bad for you. I must make sure Neil doesn't see your latest post!
ReplyDeleteIf it was only 2lb I think you did well!
ReplyDeleteGina, you should be the size of a house!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing you on Wed and us girlies will cheer you up x
Lordy! When I get down, i tend to starve and lose weight. Which is good at this time of year! Although with a teenage boy in the house it might be safe to get into a baking frenzy! x
