Ginger

I always think that ginger is one of those things you either love or hate. There is no indifferent middle ground... and I love it! So when I was staying with my friend Diana last week when I was in Devon and saw there was ginger ice cream on the menu at the local pub I knew I had to try it. It was heavenly!

So on my return home I went out and stocked up on ingredients.

Dug out the old ice cream maker...

and hey presto... ginger ice cream! The brandy snap baskets came out a little odd shaped but all in all it tasted pretty good. Recipe here if you like ginger too.

  1. Such wickedness! It does look delicious and who cares about wonky brandy snap baskets - it's the taste that counts. Thanks for the recipe.

  9. I also LOVE ginger! In fact, there is a little packet of sugared ginger within my reach at this moment.
Ginger ice cream is one of my Most Special Treats, and I found through rigorous experimentation (no need to thank me - it was all in the interest of scientific inquiry and making the world a better place) that the ultimate complement to ginger ice cream is a warm rich chocolate brownie. Try it, I beg you.

  11. That sounds fab - I'm a ginger fan and there is always a bottle of paritally used stem ginger in our fridge after the winter trifle extravaganza. Now I have an idea for it - as soon as I defrost my freezer and get it working again...

  12. Mmmm, ginger ice cream might just be the perfect topper for apple pie. It is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada and I'm baking apple pie for our family dinner tonight.

  13. Here's another ginger fan checking in to praise that ice cream and the cup that you've made. Looks so delicious that it makes me consider buying an ice cream making machine. Do you recommend the one you have?

Any other ice cream making machine owners have any advice for a novice who remembers stiff childhood cranking of the old fashion ice cream machines?

    xo
