Top Gear

As part of Stewart's ongoing 50th birthday celebrations we found ourselves in Thruxton for the day on Friday... for a "Driving Experience" on the Thruxton Circuit. First of all there were several laps in a Porsche Carrera.

I don't think he was responsible for the burnt rubber!

Next up was a chance to play at being James Bond as he took to the wheel of an Aston Martin Vantage.

And finally he was allowed out on his own in a little Formula Renault.

Which I managed to capture on video!

I don't think the Stig has got anything to worry about just yet! And me... well I was just happy to watch with my bag of knitting at my side.

We finished off a lovely day with dinner at the village pub when we got home... a perfect day if I hadn't managed to fall flat on my face on the pavement on the way out! I was lucky to escape with only grazed hands and knees and a few bruises... I know I'll take more water with it next time!

  1. Boys and their toys, eh? I bet Stuart enjoyed his treat. Glad you didn't do too much damage with your fall. Not exactly the perfect end to such a perfect day.

  5. Poor Gina - if anyone asks you how you got your injuries, tell them it was a motor racing injury.
And tell Stewart he doesn't need a Porsche, he's got a Ferrari. (I just wanted to be the first to say it!)x

  10. Oh no, I hope the knees are better.

Andy was passing by and immediately wanted to know what you'd both been up to. I bought him a rally day there a few years ago. It looks like serious and very fast fun x
