Remember I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I was off painting china with a group of friends... okay, probably not! It was a fun evening where we got to choose our unglazed pieces of china and then set to decorating them with various glazes using stencils and masks, sponges and brushes. There was wine and birthday cake and then we went home and forgot all about them, leaving them at the shop to be fired. So what a lovely surprise to get mine back this week and discover it looked like this!
A lovey friend on Instagram described it as mid century modern with a contemporary twist. Really? Like I planned that! But whatever it is I quite like it and will be happy to use it this Christmas along with the rest of my small but growing collection of festive china. And as a bonus, painting china is on my sixty x sixty list.
Although it seems a shame to cover it up... perhaps just a few artfully placed mince pies?
Do you have festive china?
Another success - it's lovley. I don't have festive china and just use my usual stuff.
ReplyDeleteLove it! There's an ever increasing collection of Christmas plates, dishes and tins here. We need a bigger house.
ReplyDeleteoh wow, that is gorgeous! I love it. I think it looks very professional and I agree with your friends description. I have just a few bits but they come out every year. xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's been so long since I logged onto Blogger to catch up that my password expired!! The first thing I see is you going for the advent challenge for another year. You have such stamina my friend. How do you manage it? I'm too busy working in some sketchbook someone sent me to take any time off for Christmas festivities..... (only kidding....) x
ReplyDeletePS The plate is pretty cool. I see the mid century modern pattern in it too. Well done you.
ReplyDeleteI would sit this on my wee easel and use it as a decoration because it's unique and so funky. You are so talented and I am going to try your ribbon baubles-thank you. Catriona
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the baubles x
Deleteyes it definitely has a mid century vibe I think....I love it!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree with mid century modern. It is gotheous. We don't have actual Christmas china, just a few special pieces from my childhood which only come out at Chtistmas
